In short
Reading PuntoBlue does not require an account. Our public pages set no cookies and load no advertising or tracking scripts.
Server logs
Like every website, our hosting provider records technical data about each request in server logs: the IP address, the time, the page requested, the referring page and the browser's description of itself. We use these logs only to keep the site running and secure. They are deleted when they are no longer needed for that; logs that concern a security incident are kept as evidence until it is resolved.
Embedded videos
Some stories contain a YouTube video. It loads only when you press play, from YouTube's privacy-enhanced domain (youtube-nocookie.com); from then on Google's privacy policy applies.
Newsletter
Our newsletter is delivered by Substack. If you subscribe, Substack processes your e-mail address under its own privacy policy.
Contacting us
If you write to us, we use your message and your address only to answer you.
Editors' accounts
The people who edit PuntoBlue have accounts with a name, an e-mail address and a password, and may add a second sign-in factor; these are used only to run the site.
Your rights
Under the General Data Protection Regulation you may ask us for access to, correction or deletion of personal data we hold about you, and object to its use. You may also complain to the Dutch Data Protection Authority (Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens). Reach us through the contact page.
