New Iris T1 Solar Generator Features Dual Axis Tracking

The Iris T1 solar generator introduces a unique dual-axis tracking system that allows its 32-W solar panel to follow the sun’s movement across the sky. By automatically adjusting its orientation, the unit achieves up to 40% greater energy capture compared to traditional fixed panels. Designed for portability, the 10-pound system integrates a 270-Wh battery and charging ports into a single, compact device. This all-in-one design eliminates the need for external cables, making it a streamlined solution for remote work, camping, and van life enthusiasts who need to keep mobile devices and laptops powered while off-grid.

The T1 stands out from typical portable power stations by combining the solar module and battery storage into one cohesive unit. Users can choose between a fixed or a folding magnetic solar panel, both of which are waterproof and engineered to withstand extreme temperatures up to 134 ℉. The system is capable of fully recharging its 270-Wh battery in 8 to 10 hours under clear skies. While it lacks AC outlets for heavy appliances like refrigerators, it provides robust output through one USB-A and two 100-W USB-C ports, sufficient for charging smartphones, laptops, and powering a Starlink Mini antenna.

Durability and ease of use are central to the T1’s design, which features a tripod-style base for stability in various outdoor environments. The unit also includes Bluetooth connectivity, allowing users to monitor battery levels, power output, and device location through a dedicated mobile app. For longer excursions, the system supports modularity, as the battery is both removable and replaceable. Users can swap in additional 270-Wh units or lighter 99-Wh versions to extend their runtime. The device has been specifically refined to offer improved wind and heat resistance compared to previous iterations.

Currently, the UK-based manufacturer is funding the T1 through a Kickstarter campaign, with early-bird pricing starting at US$1,120. The company has already secured over $120,000 in backing and is leveraging experience from its previous 2024 solar generator release to manage the T1’s production. While the project is currently in the development phase, the company anticipates that worldwide shipping will commence in June 2027. As with all crowdfunding initiatives, potential backers are encouraged to consider the inherent risks associated with early-stage product development before committing to a purchase.
